Who’s Who in
Ever U?
Key Characters
Milo Bradford
Milo Bradford is a gifted sixteen-year-old artist who has spent most of his life hiding his talent. Groomed by emotionally distant parents for a safe, prestigious future, he learns early how to perform competence while keeping his inner life carefully concealed.
Drawing is the one place where he feels honest, even as he works in secret. His sketchbooks are crowded with figures and symbols he doesn’t always understand, and the work often feels urgent, unsettling, and faintly dangerous. Milo worries that if he follows his instincts too far, something in him might break.
When he arrives at Ever Mountain College, Milo expects freedom. Instead, he finds challenge: teachers who refuse easy answers and a community that asks him to show up fully rather than hide behind skill. His journey is not about becoming a better artist, but about deciding whether he’s willing to claim authorship of his own life.
Delgado
Delgado lives in the Bradford’s attic and moves through their house with near-invisibility. Wiry, stoop-shouldered, and quietly efficient, he handles whatever Milo’s parents consider beneath them—cooking, driving, bookkeeping, and more—without complaint or recognition. Rarely addressed by name, Delgado speaks little but seems to anticipate needs before they’re voiced. Things simply happen around him. Despite his role, he carries himself with patient dignity and a gentle steadiness, and his presence in Milo’s life is far greater than it first appears.
Nova Josefs
Nova Josefs is fifteen, fast-talking, and disarmingly sharp. The daughter of Ever Mountain College professors Albert and Annie Josefs, she grew up surrounded by artists and learned early how to puncture pretension with humor. At public school, she keeps her head down; at EMC, she keeps her distance—carefully managing both worlds. Nova is less interested in making art than in understanding people, especially the secrets they avoid. Curious, skeptical, and quietly brave, she notices patterns others miss and isn’t afraid to follow them where they lead.
Silas Thorne
Silas Thorne is seventeen, heir to Ever Mountain’s oldest fortune and its most unspoken rules. Lean, watchful, and unnervingly composed, he carries himself with the calm assurance of someone used to being obeyed. In public, he is polished and persuasive; in private, his intensity tightens into something harder. Silas believes he is protecting the town’s traditions from the chaos of Ever Mountain College. But beneath the measured speech and controlled smile, there’s a pressure building—one that feels less like rivalry and more like a storm waiting for the right spark.
Zadie Johnson-Krasner
Zadie Johnson-Krasner is eighteen, a writer and performer with a gravel-edged voice and a gift for turning stray words into something luminous. Raised at Ever Mountain College by its nurse and groundskeeper, she blends fierce social justice with warmth and playfulness. A natural big-sister presence to Milo, Zadie inspires courage and creativity—often with her small, loyal dog Calder at her side.
Buck Rocca
Buck Rocca is a 19-year-old MountainKind builder—quiet, massive, and steady—who shows up at Ever Mountain College like a “human grizzly bear” with shoulders like a refrigerator and a calm that doesn’t need to talk. He works in stone and wood, carries old traditions in his hands, and becomes Milo’s grounding force: proof that strength can protect creativity, not crush it.
Calder the Dog
Calder is Zadie's small, fluffy gray sidekick—a maltese-poodle mix with soulful brown eyes and impeccable timing. Equal parts comic relief and steady comfort, he trots beside her through mountain paths and mounting tension alike. Fiercely loyal and unexpectedly brave, Calder proves that heroism doesn’t require size—only heart, instinct, and the courage to act when it matters most.
